Today's adolescents are constantly connected to social media. It's no wonder that their self-esteem―and worldview are connected to responses to social media posts making it nearly impossible not to compare their life and social connections to what they see others posting.

A world that feels scary and threatening.

With an increase in school shootings, with resultant drills and lockdowns. shootings in public places, feeling unsafe at concerts and sporting events. There have been terrorist attacks here in the US and around the world. From just watching or reading the news, it is reasonable for anyone to feel afraid in public spaces that previously would have felt safe.

Pressure to Succeed

Between standardized testing, increased competition in college admissions and a culture of achievement, today's youth feel pressure to succeed in ways previous generations did not. The US ranks first as the country with the most stressed students. Research shows that 75% of high school students report being stressed over academic achievement daily.

These struggles are not unique to teenagers

Many young adults are struggling as well in ways that are more visible. According to a 2021 U.S. Census, 33% of young adults live with their parents. This is the highest number of young adults living at home since the 1940s, according to a Harris Poll for Bloomberg.

Now is the Time to Act

Scientific evidence shows the brain is more malleable and able to create new neural pathways before the prefrontal cortex is fully developed. this happens at the age of 25. As we age, our thoughts, beliefs and habits strengthen making it more difficult to "undo" negative behavioral patterns. Far too many adults struggle with negative thought patterns and habits that prevent them from living their best lives.
