How it Works

Therapy versus Coaching

Ever ask yourself, would my child benefit more from therapy vs. coaching?

Therapy

Therapy Heals the past.

Therapy is about gaining insight and resolving feelings

Therapy is used to create a treatment plan to manage mental health systems

“What’s the problem?”

vs

Coaching

Coaching focuses on the future

Coaching uncovers your goals and what is blocking you from achieving them

Coaching is a collaborative effort to develop a plan to achieve your dreams.

“What’s possible?”

My Approach

With a growth mindset we experience

  • less anxiety

  • increased confidence

  • motivation and optimism.

It's believing that skills can be developed and improved with time.

It's seeing opportunities instead of obstacles and seeking challenges rather than staying in their comfort zone.

5 steps to a growth mindset:

  • Recognizing thought patterns, negative self talk, limiting beliefs poor habits, daily routines and souces of anxiety and stress so that we can move to step two

  • This is where we 'reframe' our thoughts and begin to rewire our brain to eliminate the negative and enhance the positive - fThe focus is on discovering strengths, interests, and stepping outside our comfort zone in small and managable increments - success with small goals leads to success with the big ones.

  • Self compassion and self care:(lose "practicing")
Studies show that Self compassion is more important than self esteem because it can be maintained and controlled internally. Self-esteem is closely linked to external achievements and societal perceptions and is often based on comparisons with others. Self-compassion however, is not based on positive judgments or evaluations, it is a way of relating to ourselves so that regardless of our circumstances, we can treat ourselves with kindness, and emotional balance.

  • SMART GOALS

Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time bound - Breaking big goals into smart goals makes it easier to take action.

  • Now it's time to put the work into action. This is where we brainstorm and decide upon the appropriate action steps to take and prioritize based on the SMART goals we've established. Having a coach check in between sessions with words of encouragement help to keep the client on track.

I Work With

Teens

AGES 13-17

The teen years are critical because this is when the foundation for adulthood is created.

When a teen's challenges and intrinsic struggles are not addressed, those issues and patterns will follow your teen into adulthood.

Young Adults

AGES 18-30

Many describe this time like being at a crossroads without a map! Young Adult Coaching bridges this gap by providing self-reflection tools and strategies to help you discover your strengths, values, and passions.

Parents

I work with parents to feel  more confident and in control of the parenting journey. Coaching is not about telling parents what to do. Every family, parent and child are unique. We work together to help you discover solutions right for you.
